I remember the first time I heard Part. Lincoln Center was doing a new music summer series and I went to hear Steve Reich perform Music for 18 musicians. The opening piece was Tabla Rasa. I was completely blown away and immediately walked over to the Tower Records to pick up the ECM recording. I've been a huge fan of his ever since.

I am also a big fan of Arvo Pärt - absolutely beautiful, so much subtlety, so much heart. There was a time when Spiegel im Spiegel was my sole companion. Bjork does a nice interview as well.

Absolutely lovely. I was unfamiliar with his term, tintinnabuli, but I know what it sounds like and it's exquisite.

Susan, I'm a big fan of Bjork, also.

There is something deeply compelling about Parts music. It also seems to speak to just about everybody without being being compromised in any way.

I have been hearing his tintinnabuli system showing up in different sorts of music. It is a great sound but so far have not heard anybody but Part capture all that power and elegant passion with it.

I used to absolutely hate choir music, based largely on what I heard in churches growing up - the pieces, the warbling sopranos.
Until I heard LE MYSTERE DES VOIX BULGARES (Bulgarian Women's Choir on 4AD) and Arvo Part's PASSIO. I had no idea choral music could be so rapturous and stunning. Part's music changed my way of hearing.
