There was a discussion of "who does polishing of small jobs?" but I'm not feeling like digging up the old threads. I drove past a place on I-78 just east of Harrisburg or west of Allentown called "Blue Mountain Metal Finishing," who does small jobs at $45.00/hour.

Right. But I have my doubts that it'll go all the way to mirror finish if the metal is scuffed or scratched. Hard to beat a guy (or gal) with a wheel.

I agree with Lane. I've yet to see a "mirror finish" without the WHEEL 
There's a guy in KC that does this pretty reasonable and if you're interested I can give you his phone and address....................clark |

The strange thing, Clark, is that I am nowhere near KC when anybody is open: I drive past Blue Mountain twice a week when they're open. So 80 miles away needs shipping, 950 miles away is dropoff. 
The last time this got discussed, most folks had problems finding someone to do small jobs: these guys will even do your lamps.

Lane,
You're right! CC polish will not remove scratches and scuffs. Pro polishing is the way to go. I found a guy in Cleveland that takes all the jobs the big companies won't do. Flat per piece price though. Your stuff won't even take an hour for those guys to do. Sounds like you found a good deal!

| Go on line and there are companies who sell these wheels mounted on motors. Start around $80. Not bad to have and keep things polished up. |

Fred,
I have two dedicated benchmount buffers,,,,but,,,,,,, Large areas like endplates are very hard to polish with small wheels. You fight with streaks. The pros have a big, wide powerful wheel. Big difference! I screwed around for a couple hours trying to do endplates and the pedal bar. It was worth the money to not waste anymore time, and have a pro do the job. I polished everything else, changer, keyheads and gutz myself, but couldn't match what the pro could do with the plates and rack.

I'm with ya, Earnest. But I'm rebuilding the axe, and I think putting some time into the appearance would not go amiss ,
And it looks like $45 and a couple days is all it'd take.

I'll have to mention it again Lane as I've done in the past, - - a tube of toothpaste sized Solvol Autosol will do the trick every time. I've used it for many years for anything aluminum
