I know very little about Danelectro guitars anyway, but very recently, the Centrestream book entitled NEPTUNE BOUND was available to me at a bargain price.

The picture below is in it. It was mfg'd 1958 to 1959. I've never heard of it.

Has anybody every played one? I should mention it seems to be the only lap steel they made.

George

Kelvin, thanks for posting that. What do you know about the date of manufacture of that one. It looks like it's just out of the showroom!!!!

Hi George, thats just my own clone based on an Dano. Sounds pretty good too the originals were very thin sounding due to the pickup being so close to the bridge, but a cool design I think.Mine has a very clear bright fat sound due to the series blended pickup wiring.
Cheers

Hey Kevin, yep its taken over from my B6 Ricky and my Gibson, I'm just an old blues player and thru my Earth Drive and an old Valco amp it sings. Its my only gigging lap and tuning stability is rock solid more than I can say for Rickys.
Great bridge design and nut design all wood heaps of sustain and I lucked out with the pickup positions .
Hope you get yours together soon.
Cheers Kelvin

Great stuff kelvin, did you have one of the pickups reversed wound then wired in series. How did you route the wiring for neck position pickup, and !! did you draw the fret markers on there ? Thanks for the pick me up

Hi Kevin , I used 2 originals 60's Dano pickups wired in series same as the 6 string guitar wiring using concentric pots .
The guitar is very quiet no noise whatsoever.
The guitar is in 3 pieces as per the original plans however I hollowed out the side beam and wired the front pickup thru that very easy and no visible routes.
I picked up a Transfer off ebay for the fret markers once again same as the original,Worked a treat .
Its a great design most of my mates laugh at the cheapness off it untill they hear it I think youll be pleasantly surprised when you finish yours.
Cheers Kelvin

Thanks Kelvin, one last thing its very important, did you have the polarity of one of the pickups reversed, this was suggested I think in the previous thread.

Hi Kevin, no its not neccessary as the lipsticks are very quiet ,rememeber I did use original pickups I did try some no brand lipsticks they were really terrible if you can find some vintage ones thats the way too go.
Keep in touch as to how it works out for you.
One last point dont get the back pickup too close to the bridge ,moving a little closer to the neck fattens out the tone heaps position is really important with lipsticks.
Cheers Kelvin
