Just got done talking with Mr. Bob Carlucci about setup tips and maintenance for my recently acquired Fender 800. Bob very graciously spent lots of time sharing his knowledge with me and gave me many ideas for some cool pedal changes. Being new to the world of pedals, having an experienced Fender devotee explain things helped immeasurably. Thanks again, Bob! |

wow.. Didn't expect this.. You are very welcome bob...
It took some trial and error over several years to learn the needed tweaks to turn these cable guitars into really good players.
They can be made to play remarkably well, with little effort. I have stated on these pages many times, that they play as well as anything made in their time frame, when set up right.. Mine plays great.
Remember, I want to know how those adjustments I told you about turn out.. I think you will be amazed at how much difference that little screw adjustment makes in the pedal action!!!
Keep us up to date on your progress, On the guitar itself, and on your learning how to play pedal steel on it!.. Enjoy that old Fender.. We are in a fairly elite little club.. The fender 800 is not an easy guitar to find, at anytime... You got a really nice deal on yours!... Enjoy it!... bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

I already worked a bit with the return spring settings. Just as you predicted, I noticed a difference after about 5 turns.
Once I decide how best to set up the new changes, I'll get to work on pedal heights and fine tuning. Thanks again for letting me pick your brain - you don't know how helpful you've been! |
