Special because as I have written about this guitar many times, and its very dear to my heart.. I LOVE this old girl...It is a 6 and 4..
The knee levers are the prototype of Mike Yahls cable knee lever system for old Fender cable steels.. The knees operate flawlessly.. Probably better than any rodded knee system could ever work on one of these guitars.. It also has a custom wound pickup, wound to 13 K, with a tap at the Fender spec of 9 K...
The guitar sounds just beautiful.. Exactly like you would expect a great old Fender cable job to sound.. A lot like Sneaky Pete's signature tone.
It plays VERY well also. As good as anything else built in its day.. Positive pedal stops, and pretty soft action for this type of pull system... I can play every bit as fast on this old Fender as I did on any modern guitar I have ever owned, and have a cooler sound while doing it!!.
The case is a mess, as FEDEX put a forklift through it on the way back from Mike's Arizona home a few years ago..
Its simply time for something else. I love this guitar with all my heart, I really do. Its the tone that I have I my head, its irreplaceable, and I will just never find another..
I know that and accept it.
Just time to move on. I am always "moving on" when it comes to gear. Its dumb, I know, but its just who I am..
Its in really good shape, but the finish is somewhat faded,.
Looks good, but the vibrant sunburst colors are slightly "washed out"...
I will take some pics if there is any interest. Most interesting trade takes it... please email me directly..
