I'm gonna get this into some song somewhere. If you're playing "Nightlife" at an Armenian picnic (highly unlikely - as I only know three people who would schlepp their PSG to an Armenian picnic - and what shish kebab munching Armenian other than the pedal steel player would even know the song "Nightlife"?), in the key of C , instead of the usual G7 (et al) 5 chord in the intro, go to the 6th fret with A pedal , and E raise, and strum strings 10 thru 6 and back down! DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS AT ANY OTHER GIG!!

The 9th string is dissonant in that position. Or the 10th. Release the A pedal and you're okay. Or use the C pedal instead.

That b9 is, I suspect, the key to the Armeniety Carl referred to. Leave it out and it sounds like an American playing Night Life

It's not one of the 7 modal scales. I found it - it's called Phrygian dominant, Freygish, altered Phrygian, or Hezaz scale:

I was probably hearing this scale when I was still in the womb Whoa!

b0b, I'll try your ideas - thanks.
