A month or so back I acquired one of these totally because of this thread

It's rated at 200 watts @4 ohms, 140 watts @ 8 ohms...
So here's my update:
Bass
I have used it for rehearsals with a 1x12 cab
Gigs with a 2x10 cab
Steel
With a 1x12 cab for rehearsals
Guitar
On a small gig with a 1x12 cab
My thoughts are this..
For Bass..this is a no brainer, I also have a SWR Redhead which will probably never be used again, seeing I am mostly on Bass these days I am quite pleased. I used it on a moderate sized stage this past weekend, I had a 2nd amp in reserve just in case it didn't cover the gig..no issues..we were crankin' and this thing kept up...
For the gear freaks..The gain ( volume ) knob doesn't quit at 5 or half way...keep turnin' and the gain keeps on a' comin ! The last gig I played on Bass with an 8 ohm cab..it was pretty assertive in volume and I was playing on 4 or 5 the whole night...didn't need any more...
For Steel..It's not bad, I am not sure it has enough gain to cover a large stage gig like a Twin Reverb would, tone is fine, not exactly as I would prefer but close...you do need a reverb pedal. Maybe I need to give it a shot before I come to a conclusion.
Guitar ( Telecaster)
Kinda like the Steel, it's ok does a good job on the small gigs but it is not exactly the same as a small tube amp which I prefer..it's kinda sterile which is what I expected. But it's not bad....
Overall though it's a fine amp and I have no complaints.
One of my band mates is going to try it as a PA amp on an duo acoustic gig with a small 4 channel mixer...I'm thinking it will do just fine ....
I would say go ahead and get one if you are thinking about it. I think this thing can cover a lot of territory for $250 ( less on sale) and 2 pounds !
PS: the new models only use a Speakon connector for the speaker connect, no 1/4 inch...no big deal..carry a Speakon connector..$10...

Obviously for the "must have tubes" side - forget about it.
I've been using one with an Eminence EPS-15C speaker (in a cabinet the size of a Nashville 112 except 1" taller as that was needed to accomodate the 15" speaker) for a year. I have a Nashville 112 that has been "collecting dust" and I gave it a try on a job and at this month's steel guitar club jam. Its back to "collecting dust" for the NV112 - the MB200/15" speaker combo wins - no contest.
My wife is using one with a 12" SICA bass speaker for rhythm guitar and it makes a great amp for that.
Our bass player tried my wife's setup and was impressed. Impressed so much that he bought a GK 15" speaker model that has basically the MB200 built in. |

I just bought this amp, the EPC 15" speaker and also a brand new T.C. Electronics 350M processor which arrived last night. This thing for $139 brand new, no tax and free shipping is one of the best things ever! The sound is amazing. I tried it with my steel through my PA and can not believe the sound. The reverb and the delay/effects are just amazing. I wouldn't bother with any effects pedals after hearing this thing first hand.
I am going to build my own cabinet to house all three pieces. Hopefully will end up with a fairly lightweight, decent amp!

$139 for the processor or the amp ?
I paid $220 for the amp from MF with a sale...

The t.c. electronics M350 was $139 brand new, sealed in the package, with warranty etc. from a supplier on Ebay.
They list them for $159 best offer, I offered $139 and they accepted, I paid via PalPal on Tuesday night, this thing arrived Thursday! Talk about service! I like fast shipping and good service, don't we all?
Speaker should be here today I would hope and the amp I bought from someone here so hopefully that will get here early next week...

Tony, is your 1X12 bass cabinet closed-back or open?
I just built a 1X12, open-back cabinet. I am using it for steel with the MB200. I am getting a great sound. I am running it through a Boss RV5 and a Boss DD3.
I haven't tried it with a bass guitar yet.

| The secret is to pair it with an Eminence EPS-15C and a Sarno Black Box, and an RV-3 or other effects. Nice tubey steel tone. |
