I just bought a Nashville 400 from Randy G (a great trustworthy guy to deal with) and really like this amp. It’s everything he said it was. I would like to push the envelope and take it to the next level to see what I can get out of it. As we know, Ken is done with doing mods for the 400 series, and he did great work on my Session 400.

Aside from Peavey, is anyone else doing mods? If Peavey is the only one, how does their mod compare with Ken’s, or how do the later factory-modded NV 400’s sound in comparison with Ken’s mod?

I did find the Nashville 400 schematics and parts list for Ken’s mod online. I’m willing to have my local Peavey guy do it for me as long as these parts are still available and that the list is pretty representative of the work Ken did.

Any thoughts anyone?

The Nashville 400 and the Vegas sounds good enough without the mod. I just couldn't tell enough difference to make it worthwhile.
You just have to find that sweet spot in the tone controls.
I could never find a sweet spot on a Session 400 or 500.

When I had Ken Fox mod my Nashville 400, it was like night and day. Almost like it was a different amp. I know he is not doing the mods anymore, but he may still have the kits for sale, or maybe could get you a parts list and schematic of the parts that get changed. Any amp tech should be able to do the work. Or, even yourself if you are good with a soldering iron.

John Lemay did the original mod kits. You could email him to see if he is still doing them.
Search the forum for more info.

I think John told me over a year or so ago he was no longer doing mods. Not sure if he has a kit. His and Peavey's original kit was just a handful of parts. The Fox Mod was around 40 parts. I sent that to John when I first came out with it and he came out with his own Super Mod, much closer to what I was doing.
I still have an old list of part numbers and drawings I can send out. It can't go thru this PM system, has to be a real email address. Prices are not current and some parts numbers may be old now. I offer no support for the mod, never sold it as a kit and never would due to the amount of tech support it would require. Anyone doing this mod without a background in electronics can expect trouble, it is not for a novice to do.
