The post office recently increased shipping costs across the board, especially on international packages. The cost of sending my books and CDs to Canada has doubled! It was about $5.50 per package (1 book with 2 CDs) until a couple of weeks ago. Now it's $10.55 for the same package. Shipping to most countries in Europe used to cost about $13, and now it's $19. My 60 Song book is my heaviest book, and that now costs over $20 to send to Europe. So... I had to increase my shipping charges and add some new PayPal buttons to my web site. Inflation keeps creeping up... makes you wonder where it's all going to end. _________________ My Site / My YouTube Channel

'tis true. When I quit playing gigs around the city last year, my pay was about the same as what my grandfather made on gigs 70 years ago. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

I shipped a guitar in the CONUSA a few months ago by USPS and the clerk charged me a $52 surcharge because he said it was 2 inches over the limit.
Strange as it may seem 3 months earlier I did the same thing with a guitar of the same size but heavier for $19.00.
It depends on which clerk you get is what I found out from the head clerk and how they measure it.
My calculations on their web site showed no surcharge for my package size and weight.

In January I sent a GFI seat thru USPS for $14.89
Today I sent one just like it in a smaller box $25.99
All I can say is I'm done shipping with them. _________________ aka "Lucky Kay"--Custom built Rittenberry SD10 3X5, Walker S/S, NV-112, and Hilton Pedal |

James, I don't know how it is at this moment, but I have always found the Post Office to be cheaper than UPS or FED-EX and I've never had a problem using the Post Office. When on of my sales did come back, it was because the buyer accidentally put on the wrong zip code. steve t |

So the question seems to be, why don't we use the post office more, well maybe because they don't do Pick up. Well they do at my mail box, but who can stick a D10 in there headed for London. And who pays the bill when the Post Office needs a bail out from the Gov. We do. what's wrong with that Picture. Who ever thught a government agency could make money. Even as a private entity the past few years it has not done well, How ever do not stop my saturday mail delivery! |
