Hey Friends,
I absolutely HATE to sell this amp, but I have to unfortunately. This is the Vintage Ken Fox 5F8B brown tolex amp with 15" SICA speaker.
ABOUT
As we know, this amp was built by forum member Ken Fox (http://foxvintageamps.com/) with extreme attention to detail, quality and craftsmanship. It is, of course, all hand built and hand wired point to point, exacting to Ken’s high standards.
I have used this amp for many recordings, and have played with several national folk and local acts and have always been extremely pleased with the sounds and tones I have gotten out of it. I never have been in want for volume, and love that it sings, even at low volumes.
As for tone, it excels. It has extremely nice lows, and non-piercing highs. I like the darker and lower notes, so that’s where it sat for me, but of course you can adjust to your personal style. This amp has been discussed a lot on the forum, so my analysis is very redundant, sorry.
I purchased from a forum member, and am not the original owner.
COVER
Comes with a D2F cover in perfect shape. The kitties did not get a hold of this one.
ROAD CASE
I had a custom road case made here in Seattle by Titan Road cases. I even took it back once to get it adjusted so it would fit perfectly. The case cost approximately $500
Check them out at http://titancases.com/
ISSUE(s)
The only issue I have had with this amp is I had a couple of the pots replaced as they had become loose. Other than that, nothing…
WEAR AND TEAR
There are NO major wear issues with the amp. A few dings in the wood that really aren’t noticeable, but no rips or tears in the tolex or grille cloth.
The handle does have a couple rips from normal use, I have included a picture. Obviously does not affect anything.
In the pictures, it looks like there are lines in the grille, but that is just a feature of digital photography and they do not exist.
MAINTENANCE
I have taken this amp into my personal amp technician here in Seattle on a semi-regular basis. Typically he checks it over for any issues and tightens things down.
He did a tube rebias, but I do not know the exact hours on the tubes. I would estimate that there are maybe 40 hours on them, but really, I am spitballing.

PRICE/PAYMENT
I want $1900 for the amp and road case, plus $60 for shipping.
I am happy to accept PayPal if you want, but please add 3% for their cut. If not, I would be happier to accept a bank or personal check. I would only respectfully ask that you wait a bit for a personal check to clear before I ship the amp.
If you don't want the case, let me know and we can work out a new price.
SHIPPING
I most likely will ship as two (2) separate items to try and save some money. One would be the amp, the other the road case. I will absorb any difference in shipping costs over the $60 I’m asking.
I'll pack carefully and insure for the full sale price. I would prefer to only ship to the continental US, but hit me up if you are interested and not living in the states and see if we can figure something out. I have no idea what it would take to ship to Canada or the UK, but we can talk.
I will remove the tubes and pack carefully so they won’t be damaged in shipping.
WEST COAST STEELERS
I am going to be doing a short stint on the west coast from 8/20 to 8/29. If you live from L.A. to Seattle, I will be in your area, and can bring with me to deliver. Please let me know ASAP if interested.
TRADES
Not interested in trades thanks.
CONTACT
Ask me any questions you may have and I’ll answer as best I can. I also know that Ken is an active member and has always been very helpful to me, so you may ask technical questions to him.
You can PM (Private Message) me via the forum and I'll get back to you ASAP. If ya wanna chat on the phone, PM me your phone number and a good time to call, and we can chat.
Let me know if there are any other pics, let me know!! No worries at all.
Thanks!
Jay

Congrats on the sale! I bet that was a treble and mid pot that was loose? Those 2 were Bournes pots and the rest were CTS. The Bournes pots did have a loose feel for sure but were great pots.
I have a mint condition 5F8B here at home and I checked, those two pots are for sure the Bournes pots.
Anyone looking, this amp has very, very low hours and will be up for sale soon. However, Ruth is having a knee replacement tomorrow so I will not advertise it for a while. I will be very busy taking care of my girl
