Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives with Gary on the steel were just off the charts good today. This is the show with the Chuck Wagon Gang. Fastest 30 minutes in television!

Here's from another show but what the heck...

Marty steps aside and lets Connie Smith's steel guitar player Gary Carter play an instrumental version of 'Lonely Street' on The Marty Stuart Show

Here's the link to the other show. Smile

Anybody out there who is having trouble getting good tone should watch that video over and over again and take notes. Notice his right hand position relative to the fretboard and the way he shapes his hand. I've tried and can't do it very well (because I'm lazy) but I do see how it should be done.

I just love Gary's playing and feel that he is one of the top players working today. On top of that he is a gentleman.

I want to offer my 100% agreement to this, Doug. I will also add that Gary is a very innovative and totally fresh player. IMO, Gary is one of the few who does not copy but rather offer his own style and will be one of those who will enable the pedal steel to advance.

George, All I know is he plays a D10 ZumSteel
You have likely played this one a few times. as have I but it won't hurt to post it again. I get totally carried away by his beautiful picking tone and footwork wow!. Sharp and concise.

Does Gary play through a Fox Vintage amp?
A local sound company has contacted me about renting him a steel amp as Connie Smith is playing in our area this weekend. I do have a Fox amp and a FYD amp that are both superb, I'm. Not playing this weekend so I guess I can cover him. Be nice to hear him live!
