I'll be in Portland quite late in June while traveling and would like to find out if there are any venues I should check -- for steel, or for anything from old-time to Western swing and vintage country. Thanks. |

Landmark Saloon....Happy Hour (6- and night gig (9-)....pretty much can find a steel there nearly every night....I was there with mine tonight (pic from an hour ago)! You never know whether folks will bring pedal or non-pedal....both are there a lot...I had a pedal steel and a dobro...

The Midnight Serenaders are an oldtime swing band, also with some western and Hawaiian content. Longstanding, very popular. Doc Stein is their squareneck tricone man - to my mind he outshines the hot trumpet and reed guys in the lineup. It's unbelievable, the power of a National soloing over a six piece band!
They'll be at Duff's Garage June 22.
