Hello all. Johnny Dugan has sent me a couple of his cds of his great playing over the years including a Christmas tune that he is quite proud of. He has asked me to convert it to a format that can be posted on the Forum. We are old friends from way back and at one time he was THE very best steeler in these parts and was looked up to by all the players from Upstate NY. I would like to post his song here if it is allowed. It would make him very happy if it is ok to post it here. Any steelers from around here will know his name although for some reason he never joined the forum. He is not active these days but Buck Reid will tell you he was an awesome player. Thanks _________________ Stage One PSG, Old Deluxe Reverb,Peavey Session 500,Nashville Telecaster, Alvarez Yari DY62 Cedar Top acoustic, Alvarez AJ-60-12 acoustic 12 string, Larivee OM-3 Acoustic, Harmony MOTS lap steel, Magnatone MOTS lap steel, Gibson BR-9 lap steel, Andy Hintons coated picks, Ernie Cawby's amp stand, Sharp Covers Nashville Amp and Guitar covers |

Yes Johnny was a great player and I was one of many that admired his playing. We didn't get together much but when we did, he was very encouraging and supportive of my efforts. We lost touch for about 25 years but reconnected a few years ago and stay in touch occasionally.
Thank you Robert for mentioning him... it's good to be in touch with my old friend.
P.S. Stay warm up there! _________________ www.BuckReid.com |

Was John a state policeman? I used to play with
Charlie Hughs and the Westernaires at the Bell Hotel
in Schnevus, NY back about 1971 or 1972. He talked
about a steel player named Johnny Dugan who used to
play or sit in with his band. Is this the same
gentleman? Charlie Hughes is up in years now, no longer playing out, but still plays fiddle and
guitar at home.

Larry, I don't think Johnny was a police officer. We've had a few extended conversations over the last couple of years and he didn't mention it. However, he is full of surprises. _________________ www.BuckReid.com |

Johnny called me up several days ago to wish me a Happy New Years. I'm currently playing with his nephew, also Johnny Dugan, who plays drums with our band, "The Jason Wick's Band", and with the Big Band known as "Classified". Johnny is now in his 80's, and living with his brother Tom. Although not playing steel at the moment, he is still a pretty keen Chet Atkins style guitar player. He did request that I post a sample of his steel playing. I'll try my best to honor his wish.
