Carter Starter Springs

If I decide not to lower any strings on my Starter,can I do away with the return springs,They are a bother to handle,,lol.

As far as I know, the Starter uses an all-pull changer, so the return springs are needed to hold the fingers in the open position, therefore you need to keep them.
