April's Fool

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zBnj72ePuo

A great song here done by Curtis Potter (great fiddle and steel, not sure who is on steel, I think the great Reggie Rueffer is on fiddle but I am not sure). Recorded previously by Ray Price.

I heard Jimmy Pack sing this song with the now defunct Steve Solomon and the boys (with Gary Carpenter, Randy Elmore) and he nailed it. I never knew what people meant by nailing a song until I heard him sing this.

This version is from Curtis's first album "Here Comes Cutis Potter", recorded (I'm pretty sure) before Reggie was born. The steel player is Weldon Myrick (my favorite)

Interestingly, Jimmy Day also appears on this album and he and Weldon play together on one cut (Odds and Ends) Smile

Great tune. I enjoy playing it a lot. Hard to find anybody around here that sings it though.

That cut sounds so much like the Chief.
