Thanks guys! I used Meguiar's Pro Swirl Remover 2.0 to clean it. I've used that stuff on every kinda guitar finish. It's very gentle. I had always thought the guitar was just painted, but it's actually monochromatic MOTS! So you guys with MOTS guitars wanna clean them, the Meg's works great! California Custom Purple Polish and their De-Oxidizer for the metal. And their M-Ron wax for the final shine. |

Oh! If you wanna hear it rockin' out, here's something I recorded with melodic metal master Neil Zaza. Not for the faint of heart, as this music isn't very popular here. I'm mostly heard in the intro and outro, though I played power chords, lower in the mix, throughout the song, with a few licks thrown in.

Great rock tone, John! I really liked this tune, and the subtle touch of steel made it even cooler.
"Monochromatic MOTS" -- great way to describe it. My Supro Jet Airliner has the same stuff (in solid black and solid white) -- when I checked the electronics cavity, I could see the edge of the covering, which was like a very thin plastic film. Thanks for the tip on the Meguiar's swirl remover. _________________ Peter

Here's another tip Peter. If you look at the peghead pic, you can see a small round mark, next to the 3rd string tuner. It looked like a cig burn. MOTS gone, rough wood showing. I drop filled it using a fine artist's brush and Testor's Gloss Black Paint. The little bottles used to paint models. It's a perfect match for the black MOTS. The repair isn't 100% invisible, but it's a HUGE improvement.
I took off the strip tuners, and polished them with Purple Polish, using an old toothbrush. Made the job easy. To polish those hard to hold, tiny strip mounting screws, Screw the screw into a pencil eraser. Put a drop of Purp on a cloth, and spin the pencil like you're trying to start a fire, Indian-style. Works very well, and is easy on your fingies! |

Thanks Mike! No smell left. I rubbed the felt-like back with a cloth dampened with Zorb-X. That stuff is great! Has no smell of it's own. Totally neutral, unlike Fabreeze, which smells like cheap perfume! |

Another quick tip;
If you're going to clean your guitar, and it has a fingerboard like mine that is clear plastic with the bottom-side painted, don't take it off! If any moisture got under there at any time in the past, removing the board may leave a lot of paint stuck to the guitar body. Just leave it screwed down tight, and work around it, and clean the top with the Swirl remover. |

For a table top, you might wanna try their 205, Ultra Finishing Polish. They list it as a 4 on their scale of 1 thru 12. 12 is heavy cut. The swirl stuff is rated at 3. I couldn't tell the difference. Still very gentle. |

Zorb-X, huh? I haven't heard of that. My Supro didn't smell, but the case still has that musty, "old case" aroma. Baking soda, sunlight -- nothing really helped, although it's a bit more tolerable. I can't stand the smell of Febreze, so I'll look for this Zorbx stuff. Thanks for the tip. _________________ Peter

Nice job John! I almost bid on one of these. Good looking steel and I've heard all good things about them. What smoke!
