I know this may sound silly but here goes. I was working outside like I ususally prefer and our state bird, the mockingbird, was singing away; as usual. However, he very distinctly said "Jerry Byrd" or "Bird" as the case may be. He did not sound like Jerry Byrd, he just said Jerry Byrd. He said this several times by the way. I had to admire his taste although nobody needs to hear from a bird about the Byrd. Because "everybody knows about the Byrd", right! . It did cause me to take pause. |

There was a mynah bird at the old Jack's At the Beach bar in Santa Monica that would say, in a gruff voice "Shut the door, stupid!" when you'd enter the bar. _________________ Jack Aldrich

We had a mockingbird on the roof next door last year with an amazing repertoire. He could go on for hours with more sounds than I thought possible. I imagine that the lady mockingbirds were very impressed.
It doesn't surprise me that one would include Jerry Byrd in his songs. Whatever they hear, they can repeat. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

Up at Galvin Flying Service at Seattle's Boeing Field, they used to have a Myna Bird that all day long he'd listen to the radio monitor of the control tower conversations with aircraft.
He'd sit there for hours and rattle off various tower instructions.......using various airplane call signs and comments from Ground Control, Boeing Tower and Seattle Departure Control.
At times it was difficult to determine whether it was an actual tower controller or this silly but intelligent bird. Simply Amazing. |
