San Antonio Steel Guitar Association will have our next jam session April 7, 2013. Bill McCumber will be our featured player at this meeting. Bill is an accomplished player that has played with many groups in South Central Texas and is the steel guitar player for the South Texas Opry in Corpus Christi and has been for 25 years.
Our jam session will start at 2 pm and last until 5 pm or later if need be. Location is the William P Randolph American Legion Post #593 at 326 West Legion Dr. Converse Texas. Lunch will be served by the American Legion and the canteen will be opened for your favorite beverage. Lunch charge is $5.00 and the hamburgers are great. We will have a "4 Sale or Trade" table for those wanting to offer cds, guitars, amps, or related equipment for sale or trade. Please nothing that grows, smells, eats or illegal.
Come out and enjoy the fun. All steel or dobro players are welcome to play no matter what their skill level. Players are asked to be prepared to play 2-4 songs and to be set up and tuned and ready to start the jam session at 2 pm sharp. |

Perfect timing! I need my fix of pedal steel guitar jam. Looking forward to seeing everyone and enjoying some good country music. I didn't get to go to Dallas, but I bet someone will be able to tell me all about it. And to be completely truthful, I always enjoy the hamburgers and drinks. See y'all soon! |

I won't be there anymore and I will let Joe tell you all why. It was fun and and I really appreciated everyones support but, there doesn't seem to be enough room for my style of playing for a couple of the players, so I wish everyone the best of luck and keep on playing that great steel guitar music.I know some of you know, that I play steel also. I hope to see some of you down the road. |

I just wanted to add to my other message, that Joe has put his heart and soul into making this jam session as good as it is and you all should really support him and thank him when you get the chance. You won't find a better person then Joe, he eats sleeps and breathes, steel guitar.Theres a lot of work that goes into this, and I believe he does a great job at it, also the featured players have all been great and where else can you play and ask questions of some of the best in South Texas. Once again, this is a steel guitar jam session and should be treated as such. I wish you all the very best. |

Thank you Jim for your comment about the jam session and our players and our efforts at improving each session we have . I have always appreciated you as a friend and as a player. Several of the players have brought to my attention that we were allowing too much time with other playing when we could devote more time on the less experienced players and work collectively on helping the players (like me) that need to play in public and to play along with a band. After a meeting with our committee we decided to do a pedal steel, lap steel, dobro jam session. Our direction has been changed in several areas and hope not too many feelings have been hurt. We are back to basics and hope and pray for continued success with our path. You have contributed greatly and we appreciate what you have done. You know you are always welcome at our jam sessions and I do hope to see you as your time allows..Gods Bless you My Friend....jr |

Another incentive for attendance at our jam session on April 7, 2013 is that Mike Marks of Momar Music Co. is going to give each person attending our jam session a 10% discount off anything bought in store. Momar has everything from guitars, strings, speakers, custom builds speaker cabinets, keeps plenty of speaker cabs in stock, cords, PA systems, fog machines etc. Mike is a true professional at what he does and is a great guy on top of having a very interesting store to browse through. Hope to see you all Sunday...jr |
