When I saw this on the Milkman page I said to myself "fortunately Bob knows the earplug deal". Hope you were packing your 95 dB inserts. |

Very cool, Bob! Was this a SXSW thing?
And did you think about Buddy Charleton at the gig? |

Pete,
I didn't have time to think anything. I just played on one tune and it was so loud and crazy I couldn't tell if I was playing or not. But there was a Troubadour reference in this article:
http://www.austinchronicle.com/music/2013-03-15/sxsw-live-shots-iggy-and-the-stooges/
Iggy and the guys in the band are real sweethearts and James Williamson is way into steel guitar. _________________ Bob

Cool. This is exactly the kind of thing we need. We need to expose the steel to people who like other kinds of music besides country.
Way to go Bob. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

Mike,
I seriously doubt I had any impact on anything but it was a very cool experience.
With the Iggy gig at SXSW weds night and then the Hem concert in Brooklyn on friday I officially am not allowed to complain about crappy gigs at least till the beginning of April _________________ Bob |

I can imagine that was a very cool gig! Iggy was the first live concert I went to on my own- cut class in Jr. High to go see him at the fair in Detroit. He finished his set by extending his arms sideways and taking a (purposeful) header off the stage into the front row of seats. Knocked himself out, I believe. I'd never seen anything remotely like that and it made a real impression. Punk way before punk was cool. _________________ Stop by the Steel Store at: www.markvanallen.com

Bob
THat is some serious badass. I saw Iggy in 19798 at the Stardust ballroom in Hollywood, and it was nuts. Glen Matlock, recently fired from the Sex Pistols, was on bass, and he was downright sinister. But none of that is as unreal as a steel on stage! Now I wanna be your Dog, indeed. Credo! |

Saw Iggy and the Stooges at the Electric Circus (NYC), probably 1971. He stuck his finger down his throat and puked on some folks standing in front of the stage. |
