I understand that the Black Rajah was Speedy West's tone bar of choice.

I know these haven't been made since the 50's but is anybody making an equivalent nowadays?

Jeff, due to a request from Johnny Davis, a modern equivalent was designed and produced a couple of years ago in the four (4) most currently common bar sizes sizes. They were nicknamed the "Black Sultan" bars and are available from the TSGA Benevolent Association. If you forward an email address to me, I will be happy to send you some .mp3 clips of Johnny playing with one, sounds like Curly Chalker all over again. Johnny's comment after using one for the first time was "If Curley were alive today, he would KILL for one of these".
