Gang, I have to play this on a gig and I can't find it on You Tube or anywhere.

Any ideas? Was this the actual title?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

You can check the Bob Wills discography at:

I don't see anything with the title "COD". Otherwise one of the really smart members might be able to help more.

Could it be the Merle Travis hit from the 40's, "Divorce Me C.O.D."?

Hmmm, thanks, Pete, I'll ask my frontman if that could be it.

Hey, good to see your name on the Forum. Remember me from Nashville, 1986-1988?

Pete, I am listening to Travis COD now and it indeed seems to match up with the (bass) notes I was sent! Thanks, man!

BTW, love the muted trumpet and accordion on Travis' track! Woo-hoo!

Not a 4m but a 4#dim after the 4 chord

That'll work too, depends if the singer is doing the correct passing voice-note. Usually they go for the one that the 4m will also cover quite well.

With all respect Jack I wasn't referring to what "will work". I was referring to the actual chord in the recording. Almost any chord can be changed if desired, but the actual chord in Merle Travis' tune here is a sharp 4 dim not a 4m

I stand corrected. I have been playing it incorrectly for 71 years. I started picking a standard guitar when I was nine. I used to go to Shaffer Lake in Indiana and sit right in front where I could see,and hear, Merle play what were to become some standard Americana music. His music sometimes is altered to fit Opinion and personal preferences by later performers. The same things happen to some of Hank Williams" classics. The one in mind is " I'm so lonesome I could cry". Listen to his first recording, as I did when it first came out, and then listen to it today with all of the embelishment passing chords. Today his voice melody line is pulled into the instrumental mix and results in many minors with added 6th + dangling 13th plus mutes 9ths....etc, you get my point. Forgive the impudence from one who only covets the wisdom of those who know for sure about chord structure. I'm still learning each day.

Jack, I didn't mean no harm. All's good Very Happy
BTW I prefer I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry just like Hank did it. For me it's got more soul with 3 chords
