I have been looking for a good A/B switch. I had one, I believe it was made by Digitech but I don't remember for sure, anyway I seemed to lose tone when I switched back and forth. So I asked a buddy of mine, who is an electronics wiz, to make me one. I had the same trouble with that one. My buddy says I am nuts but my ears say otherwise.
Anybody use an A/B switching devevice and if so what is working for you? _________________ Emmons PP D10 8X5, GFI Ultra D10,both are setup up "Emmons" style. Quilter 202 Tone Block, Nashville 400, Milkman 85, Stewart PA200, BW and JBL speakers, Profex II

Behringer makes one called the AB200. It has two A/B/Y switches which use relays to switch, not electronics. I can't hear any change in the sound.
I think they make a single A/B/Y version as well.

Garry, I'm using a passive DOD a/b switch box. Its simple, requires no power and works well. _________________ Clinesmith consoles D-8/6 5 pedal, D-8 3 pedal & A25 Frypan, Pettingill Teardrop, & P8 Deluxe. |

Second what Rick said. I built a basic passive leg mount A/B switcher using an old matchbox chassis. Just 3 jacks and a simple 3 position center off mini toggle switch. No tone dulling at all, plus the off position lets you mute everything.

Garry I ran into this a little while back and some forum members clued me in to 'buffering'. Essentially I had my PSG (a buffered signal) running on leg A, and my six-string (unbuffered) on leg B. I ran into tone and volume loss problems because of it, especially on the non-buffered leg. After I reconfigured my pedal chain and balanced things out I had no troubles. |

Garry, I'm assuming you are looking for an instrument switch. If so, I'm very pleased with this instrument switch by Radial Engineering:
BigShot™ I/O True Bypass Instrument Selector

I switch between PSG and Lap Steel and use the tuner output and mute for the lap steel.. pricey but a loyal workhorse. |

Electro Harmonix makes a passive switch pedal for around $35.00 and there is no "popping" when you hit the switch.

i am using a Boss AB2 ... it's passive.. seems to be transparent . The battery is only for the LED status light.
One thing i really like about it is the switch is a soft touch , a little easier if you use your hands on it instead of your feet |

Morley. Works perfectly. They also make a great ABC switch. |

I use the Electro-Harmonix Switch-Blade... ABY. It's less than $50 and does the job... the LED's are battery powered but the box works with a dead battery. I've used it to switch both guitars and amps... it doesn't lift any grounds when using dual amps, those boxes are more expensive... but if one of your amps is a Roland Cube then it works fine (only 2-wire power on those). _________________ New FB Page: Lap Steel Licks And Stuff: https://www.facebook.com/groups/195394851800329 |

This may be overkill for your needs but are loaded with options for hookup 2 instruments to amp or 1 instrument to two amps etc. lotsa combos plus individual channel levels. I play several instruments and carry two of these with me in my cases.

I have a Radial Bigshot I/O which is a very high quality unit with true bypass. They also make the Bigshot ABY which may suit you better. I can tell you this company makes top notch, tank-tough gear.
