I'd appreciate suggestions for music with steel guitar in Austin TX this coming Friday to Tuesday.
My appology if my query is inappropriate for this forum.
Thanks
Jim

No problem. Let's try moving it to Steel Players and see if more people respond.

I'm in town and looking for steel, too. Don't see any of the usual suspects in the Chronicle

I'm playing at this event on Saturday:
http://noideafestival.com/

Then Sunday from 7:00 till 9:00 at Thrice
http://www.thricecafe.com/site/

Tonight for happy hour at Ginny's Little longhorn Dane Sterling always has a great steel player with him. Mostly Ricky Davis or James Shelton

Dale Watson is always playing someplace and you have the mighty Johnny Cox with Heybale on sunday night at the Continental.

There are usually steel players at the White Horse and Broken Spoke

If you've never caught Junior Brown's show at the Continental Club you're in for a treat... mostly not steel, I'd have to agree... but if you stick around (for another cover charge) you'll get Johnny Cox with HeyBale! as well. IIRC doors open at 7, Junior kicks off around 7:30.

I was watching PBS this morning & the show "Globetrekker" was on,they were traveling west to different towns. One segment was done from Austin & Ginny's Little Longhorn. They showed a steel player but didn't say his name. The guy filming the show won $114.00 on "Chicken Sh*t Bingo.I thought it was kinda kewl!

Well here's the pic of the Globetrekker guys that were there and you can see it was Dale Watson playing Chicken Bingo that day..so that was Don Paulak on Steel.

You're talking about Geoff Queen, good friend and good steeler.

I remember every one of those dance halls! In the late 70's I was playing a green D-10 Emmons PP for Al Dean "Mr.Cotton Eyed Joe" out of San Antonio TX. On breaks I was busy scootin a boot across the dance floor. I sure miss those days!
