I got this some time ago. It's a restoration project for someone. I'll try to be as detailed in its description as I possibly can.
Here are some facts about the guitar:
- I'm PRETTY SURE it's a model 6139 but I plead ignorance on Sho-Buds in general. Push-pulls, maybe not. Sho-Buds, I don't claim any in-depth knowledge of them.
- It's a single raise/single lower changer.
- The guitar is 3 x 3. However, it appears that two knee levers might have been added. It's tough for me to say with certainty about that because of my unfamiliarity with older Sho-Buds. I've certainly owned Sho-Buds but not one with a barrel mechanism. The linkages and a couple of the brackets for two of the pedals are pretty roughly made which makes me suspect they might have been added later.
- All three knee levers are teardrops and it has the Gumby headstock.
- I'm guessing the blue undercarriage flocking was added later.
- It appears that the undercarriage linkages for the foot pedals have been moved over an inch or so. You can barely see the outline of where the brackets were for those.
- It's the original pickup, from what I can tell, but one of the controls is not connected.
- The natural finish is rough and flaked in some spots. It looks better in the pics than in person! It's not pretty but, at the same time, it doesn't make you wince, either. My opinion, of course.
- The pedalbar bolts to the front legs.
- I've been told that the changer end has been drilled and the rods changed to nylon-ended ones which, the person said, "indicates it had tuning problems." I honestly don't know about that. I've never set the guitar up and played it.
- It's serial number is 3079
The price is $850 + shipping. I have to remain firm on that. If I don't sell it I'll just put it back in the restoration line. I have to say that this is an "as-is" sale. I am striving to be as straightforward and honest about the description as I possibly can.
In reviewing this posting I do realize I need to take some pics of the undercarriage. (Dumb me). I'll try and get that done and those posted as soon as I can.
Thanks for looking and please ask me any questions you might have. It might be best to ask your questions here on the board because the answers might be what others want to know, too.
