Mr. Emmons,
I'm sure that you have never been ask this question before,(Ha,Ha) Very Happy but of all the steel guitars that you have played, what would be,in your opinion, the top four brands and why? Thank you in advance, and I hope that you are doing well.

I would like to bump this to the top, just in case Mr. Emmons hasn't seen it.

Mitch do not be disappointed if Buddy does not respond. Players of his stature would be more reluctant to respond so as not to offend anyone. Just look at what he has or is playing and that may satisfy some of your inquiry.

Now for me, the top 4 are.....

Now, with Mr. Behm one might anticipate that the top four would be Emmons, followed by Emmons, Emmons, and Emmons.

But the blue one might have been a Carter.

As I recall, Emmons may also have played an Emmons a time or two.

Ken, Buddy did i believe have a S-12 Carter built for some kind of universal tuning he was experimenting with. He thought very highly of Bud Carter. I did put a thread some time back of the Inauguration of Bud Carter into the Steel guitar hall of fame, and a letter from Buddy Emmons was read to Bud Carter for Bud and the audience to hear how much he respected and praised highly his work as a guitar builder. If you can't find the thread, you can Googel it via the youtube link.
