Mr. Twang (that's me) will be back in the public eye 3 times in one week! For the curious, I'll play my Mullen D-12 at the Swallows, and my Carter SD-10 at the Barn Dance.
Here's the scoop:
Thurs & Friday, April 27 & 28:
2 nights with the great country singer/songwriterPatty Booker (http://pattybooker.com/)
The Swallows Inn
31786 Camino Capistrano
San Juan Capistrano CA
949-493-3188
8:30 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.
This is a real cool authentic cowboy saloon, great vibe, fun people, decent dance floor, no cover charge. Ages 21+, no minors. Kinda cozy, so come early for good seats.
Directions: from LA/Orange County:
5 south, exit Ortega Highway; turn right
Quick 2 blocks, then turn left on El Camino Real. Lots of parking behind the club.
If you overshoot that, the road dead ends at the main drag, Camino Capistrano, just turn left and come back around the block to the rear parking lot. Or park on the street. There are several nice restaurants just yards from the club.

Tues., May 2
1 set showcase with really talented original country band, Mojave Road (http://mojaveroad.net)
Ronnie Mack's Barn Dance
@ El Cid Show Restaurant
4313 W. Sunset Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA
323-668-0318
No announced showtime as of this writing, but show up at 8:30 and you won't miss us. Several great groups will be showcasing original songs.
This might be an all ages venue, but please check first with the restaurant before totin' kids along.
Directions: I recommend you check MapQuest. El Cid is on the eastern end of Sunset Blvd, corner of Myra, or really close. So it's a mile or so north of the 101, right about where Santa Monica Blvd and Sunset Blvd merge. Practice your navigation skills! (Or bring your GPS gizmo).

I'm only about 10 or 15 minutes from the El Cid club. Maybe I'll drop by.
I thought they only played Flemenco music there. When did they go country?

Last night was a blast, we had a real dream band with Bob Gothar on lead, John Lee White on drums (what a groover!), and Patty singing her butt off doing nothing but straight up country...well, some rockabilly and cajun here and there...but no Faith Hill to be heard!
I really had a ball, so I strongly encourage anyone living near San Juan Capistrano to come down. The folks working the club, and the patrons, are the coolest and friendliest. And my Mullen loves that room, it really sang out, and the band kept raving about my tone. Who needs a dang push/pull!?!
Thanks for attending last night to: Silvio Bello; John Hauck & his buddy Chuck; Bonnie from my mailing list; and Linda, Rick Schmidt's lovely and charming neighbor, who he sent in to say hi, she's a pedal steel aficionada (hi back to you, Rick).
