Found a nice 1940 Epiphone Electar Coronet model with blade style pickup attached to a flat magnet.
( it actually had the original epiphone white logo with carousel knobs.. miracles never cease).
Anyway it needs a pickup rewind.. Any ideas.
Appreciate it!

I would contact Jason Lollar. He has a history of doing great work on lap steels.

my first lap steel was an Epiphone Century. the output was weak because the pickup had broken winds. I used Lindy Fralin for the repair. He called me after I sent the pup to him. He explained what he needed to do and gave me a repair price. I was very pleased. The pickup roars now. I highly recommend Fralin.

My Model M had a broken pickup, but instead of getting it fixed I installed a pickup by Rick Aiello, a potbelly. Has such a great sound now--much better than the original.

The original had a very interesting construction, though. It was a blade with a paper bobbin wrapped around it, sitting inside of a big block magnet.

Paul, Ray, Mike,
Thanks for the feedback. As an FYI I thought Jason Lollar's site said he wasn't doing rewinds at this time.
I used Tom Brantley when he was with MoJo Tone. He is no longer there but I was able to
to track him down with his name and searching pickup rewind after I posted this.. He rewound a 39 Epiphone Zephyr I have and did a great job. One of the best sounding steels I have.
He is now just doing rewinds. I would highly recommend him.
Appreciate the support. The SGF is great !

Yes, except it was connected to a 3 x5 inch or so magnet.
I'll post a picture when I get it back.
Thanks!

More information.
I located Tom Brantley who had rewound a 39 Epiphone Zephyr pickup for me last year.
I picked a 41 Epiphone Coronet and sent him the pup for a rewind recently. I just re-installed it last night..As with my last
Rewind.. Outstanding job. turn around time of a couple of weeks which made it all the better. Here is a link.. Not sure but it may be the pup I sent on the workbench in the photo.
