Settin' The Woods On Fire
I would like to read this book if anyone would lend it to me? I will return it with a CD copy of Don's "Mothers Best" instrumentals after a couple of months. 20 tracks recorded in 1950-1951 live radio shows. Note I am in the UK.

Alan.

You mean you don't want to pay over $500 for a paperback?

Well, you CAN order a used copy in very good condition for the low, low price of $88.95 (plus $3.99 s/h) Smile

I think that discontinued books like this are good candidates for digitization- the publisher could have them scanned and sell digital copies for $10-20.

I would like to see the US Copyright laws revised so that the rights revert back to the author(s) if it has been more than, say, 10 or 15 years since the publisher last printed an edition. "Play me or trade me" as they used to say in baseball.

Yes I've seen those but I'm a steel player not a banker!! ha ha.

I just want to read it and return it afterwards. My wife bought me the Hank Williams Mothers Best, Box set last year and the tracks and chat between the band and Hanks are fantastic. I have since read a couple of books on Hank and would love to hear Don"s perspective.

I was just thinking that it would be really cool if we had a Lending Library here at SGF!

I heard that the Hank WIlliams museum in Montgomery still carries that book in its bookstore. Might be worth a try.

Unfortunately, the website for the Museum has been hacked and taken over by a college-paper plagiarism service. Rolling Eyes

Is it possible that the book may still be available from Hazel Helms? I bought my directly from Don with both their autographs included.

Ten people chip in $10 and loan it to each other for the first year. After that a $10 forum donation sends it to the next person.

Alan, you are welcome to my copy if it turns out that ET Record Shop really has it in stock. After I'm done reading it, you can have it for the cost of shipment to the UK.

I've got a vision in my head of an 18 year old clerk in ET's with one dusty old copy in his hand, looking at a computer screen with three orders, two from England, in one day on it and scratching his head! Steve

Well, the postman just delivered my copy this morning and since I ordered after Alan and Greg they must have had at least 3 copies in stock.

Who knows how many more copies they are sitting on and it's still listed on their web site.

So if anyone else fancies a copy, give it a try.

Sorry to say that I probably won't be letting my autographed copy (by Uncle Don himself) out of my sight. You might try to go directly to Ms. Hazel or through Bobbe Seymour's shop to get a copy. She's a sweetheart and Bob or Vic at Bobbe's shop may be able to help.

The publisher is:

Audrey's Dream Inc.
Nashville, Tennessee

www.audreysdream.org

Unfortunately the website is no longer there.

I think it was more a charitable organisation (connected with Audrey Williams) and only published 2 other books, one of which was Lycrecia Williams' story and the other a collection of sympathy cards and letters to the Hank Williams family.
