Hi steel guitar folks! I am new to the forum, taking a first look around the world of steel. I am a musician and disc jockey here in New Orleans and have just started playing pedal steel. I love all types of steel sounds, but I am a big fan of Sacred Steel music and the Campbell Brothers in particular. I always wanted to try and mix up the Sacred Steel thing with Louisiana music, and through a very fortunate set of circumstances, that will happen this Friday.

I am producing a benefit for the New Orleans Musicians' Clinic, which is a huge resource for the music community here and has gone far above and beyond in the last few months to help local musicians with both health care and gig sponsorship. The Campbell Brothers, with their full band, volunteered their services and are flying in from New York. Zydeco master Terrance Simien, roots slide picker and writer of Tim McGraw hits Anders Osborne, outstanding singer songwriter Shannon McNally, jazz chantuese Arlee Leonard, founding member of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and king of the funky tuba Kirk Joseph, and New Orleans' favorite steel whiz Dave Easley plus a bunch of other fine musicians, including a full horn section, will all join the Campbells. Should be a whole lot of fun, to say the least.

The show starts at 8pm at the Old Point Bar and will go at least until midnight. If any of you will be in the area for Jazz Fest, I hope you can join us! It will be a great show for a great cause. You can get ticket reservations from the link on my homepage at www.marcstonemusic.com. Tickets are $31 advance and $40 at the door. I know that's kinda high, but it's a benefit and there were a fair amount of plane tickets involved.

Thanks and happy pickin'!

Marc,
Welcome to the Forum!
We both love sacred steel, and would give anything to be there this Friday. It's a great cause - and of course no surprise that the Campbell Brothers have volunteered to play. They are truly fine gentlemen!!
Wishing you the BEST with your benefit!!
