Tuning up the steel this morning and I realize I cant keep my 5th string in tune. I release the "a" pedal and it doesn't return to B. It raises just fine. No problem with the 10th string--it comes back fine. Any ideas? |

Hi Steve, It sounds like you need to tighten the 5th
string return spring a little bit (turn it clockwise)
1 or 2 turns at a time, or maybe the changer needs a
little bit of lube. Also check to see if the crossbar
is not binding up. It must move very easy. _________________ aka "Lucky Kay"--Custom built Rittenberry SD10 3X5, Walker S/S, NV-112, and Hilton Pedal |

Tried your suggestions and for a while everything seemed to be okay, but on slow releases it's still not coming back all the way. I have to coax the pedal back up with my foot to get it to return to pitch.
The guitar is a practically brand new Fessenden. After flipping it over and looking at it, it appears that maybe the cross bars are getting hung up in the foam block they're running through. Back to the drawing board. |

Check to be sure that the string is crossing the changer finger properly, I have had issues in the past with strings getting pushed off center when putting the guitar in the case. When it does that the finger is torqued sideways and binds. |
