When I was playing my T-8 Stringmaster with a polka band, I only put bass strings on the bottom 4 strings on one of the necks. I left the top 4 strings as they were.

How did you cope with the uneven strings? Don't play near the nut? Or don't play mixed intervals? You'd have to have the butt of the bar off the bass course... I'm using paper/business card to level my Stringmaster bass strings, there's no cutting on that nut!
