Hi, Speedy's grandson has a Stratospere Item 271144335212 on ebay. It has two neck's with 16 strings on each. Looks like a 12 string. Any info on this guitar.

Thanks Dennis

Whoa, that must be the steel guitar version of Jimmy Bryant's Stratosphere guitar!

Wow!!! I thought I was into weird guitars but I've never even heard of one of these.

The top string is missing so maybe we could knock him down a bit on price Oh Well

On the Stratosphere guitar, the 12 string neck was designed to be tuned so the pairs of strings were tuned in harmony (thirds or fourths instead of octaves or unison).

Do you think it is possible that the steel guitar version was intended to be tuned in a similar way?

Has anyone heard any recordings that they think might feature this instrument?

Speedy Told Me About The Stratosphere Steel Guitar When I Visited Him At His Home In 1977 in Broken Arrow,Ok.
He Had It Stored In His Attic, So I Was unable To See It. Sad

Dewitt Scott Might Know If Speedy Ever Recorded Any Tunes On This Guitar. Question

The Stratophere Steel Guitar Should Be In A Museum.

Speaking of which: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxdLjOXlcJc

TK Smith, Jeremy Wakefield, Deke Dickerson ripping it up.

Noob question: don't suppose this steel could have been on "Stratosphere Boogie" or was that strictly Bigsby?
