Steve Kimock is a guitarist and non-pedaler in San Francisco. He gets roped into an occasional Deady re-tread trip, but his own stuff is better (IMO). There's some quite original Stringmaster work throughout this show:

Around 10:15 or so he starts building a neat Phrygian-neighborhood snake-charmer piece. He never overplays it or trashes out with the big-hair stadium finale.

Thanks for this. I've been looking for a good example of examples of exotic scales/modes in steel music.

Dave Easley original:

And excerpt from "Eight Miles High":

He's played with Aashish Khan, who is the son of Ali Akbar Khan, nephew of Annapurna Devi, and grandson of Alauddin Khan, who was his first teacher - at 5 years old! There's a little clot of these Indophiles down in New Orleans. Dave has regularly taken "dinner music" jobs - at Indian restaurants - just because he can get paid to fool around with this stuff for hours on end.
