Any of you folks play8-string reso standing up? I got one coming, but I don't have a strap to hold it Laughing
I can't really justify paying more than, say, 100.00 for this strap. So that rules out the Poff straps. I've got a dime store strap, that i used to have on my Guernsey 6-string, but I don't wanna use it on the (heavier) 8-string.
Any suggestions or recommendations?
Thanks!

I bought a nice soft leather Taylor guitar strap for about $30, a planet waves quick dis-connect, and a 10 cent rubber faucet washer for a strap lock. Works great for my 6 string reso. Smile

That faucet washer idea for the strap lock is great! I'll have to try it! Thanks.

Long Hollow Leather made in Tennessee. I use this on my dobro and I've sold a bunch in my retail store. You can buy direct from Long Hollow. Morrell sells them, too.

I use the 2" Webb Leather Dobro Strap on my McKenna 8. $60 from Elderly Instruments. It has a quick disconnect at the peghead, and I have a Dunlop Straplok at the end pin. The strap is comfortable and goes on and off easily.

The best bet is to convince your band that the dobro should be the center of attention, like in the old Hawaiian groups. Then you sit in the middle with them circled behind, staring down in awe at your hands. You still need a strap, though.

The Beard straps are $50-60.

Yes, I play standing.

Thanks for that link Robert. I'm interested. Nice looking padded leather straps, reasonable cost.

There is a forum member who makes great stands. They are NOT cheap. But I find them alot more comfortable. They also let the tone ring out alot more. Mark Roeder is the guy's name.
