I would personally like to thank all of you who participated in this year’s event. I do think it was the best show to date. I would like to recognize the Newberry's for all their hard work, and especially, Jerry, Austin, and Del on their amazing tone of our new pre-G2. And a special thanks to all who picked in our demo room and stopped by. It was a great pleasure to meet a lot of new people that I have only talked to in the past. Also a big thank you to Buck Grantham for all your help. And I am sure there are many I am forgetting, but thank you. We had a great time and this was the most memorable show ever.
One more thing I have to do is give a special congratulations to my Granddad. Without him none of this would have been possible and for almost 30 years he has been the top of the line in pedal steel guitars. He received at this show a true, priceless recognition from our good friend Steve Robinson of NASA. He was presented with a Certificate of Authenticity and a plaque framed with his cd, which states his cd flew on the Discovery mission and traveled more than 5 million miles. "What an honor Granddad, you deserve it."

Great to hear the show was such a success for Mullen Guitars, Mike. You folks make a fabulous steel, and I'm dying to try the G2---what you had at a Dallas was a beta model, not quite final, I take it? Can you share with us the changes, new features?

Yes, John we had a great and successful show. The Pre-G2 as we are calling is indeed a hint of what is to come in the full model G2, when available. The current changes are limited to the top end of the guitar. First off, the changers and changer rollers are different. The changers are built the same however they have more precision parts in them with a flawless motion. The necks are also different; they are now wide mount pickups that mount on an adjustable plate. There is also split tuning screws in the changer and cut outs on the necks. There are other changes that I will not elaborate on at this time. We are manufacturing these guitars and are the Royal Precision with the G2 option. We are still manufacturing the Royal Precision as well.
As for the G2 model it is still in development and will incorporate many other changes. The first question all will have is probably when, and to be honest we do not know. We are working on it, and we will debut it when we are finishing, so those thinking about ordering please do not hold off for this new model as it could be a little while yet, and we will always consider your trade when they are available. I hope this helps answer a few of your questions.
Our main quote is WE will challenge the pre-G2 against any push pull. Maybe some that heard the difference this weekend may give there two cents.

I gotta say that i know a little of what Mike is speaking of. The steel Del played at St Louis last Sept had the new fixins ,the tone was the best i heard at the Convention, IMHO. That's the steel i hope to have when it comes out, really close to my p/p. Yep, i still have my '03 RP and love it, but it don't sound nuttin like the new un they're buildin. Meantime , i'm saving my allowance.

I've been playing my Rp a good many years and I like the sound and play ability of it a lot but I listened to the improved one at the Dallas show and it sounded very close to my push-pull guitar and I really think it is the best sounding guitar out there. When they get finished improving it I will be chomping at the bits to get my hands on one of them. Dealing with the people who make these guitars is a pleasure. |

I got the one Del played on his set, I'm proud to say I brought it home Sunday. It's really a beautiful guitar, I expect to be playing it from now on. Del and family are very nice people to deal with, or just visit with. Now that I've got a Mullen I'll probably sound just like Buck Grantham (In my dreams, maybe).

Howard, I sure am glad you took Del's guitar. Jerry was going to bring it home with him. Jerry and Austin have one of the new steels already. THEY LOVE THEM!!!!!!!! From what I have been hearing it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Mike, Jerry and Austin had a good time in Dallas working the Mullen room and we all had a good time visting with all of the Family. Tell Del we are proud of him for his award he got. It was well deserved. Nice of NASA to do it. Hope to see all of you in Tulsa. Donna |

Dell and Dixie, I want to thank you both for your contributions to the better-ment of this instrument. Congratulations on any and all awards. How can you keep improving this breadboard? I am getting too old to keep up. Sorry! Love you both and hope to get to a show where you are again some time. |

Mike, that is indeed a very rare award, and certainly something to be very proud of, and most definately a giant step forward for the steel guitar.
I have a new G2 on order too, and I am indeed very anxious to get it. |
