My wonderful TeleRatt from Melobar is in for service with the very excellent Mark Brown of Campbell, California.

The neck pickup is bad and needs replacement. I'm happy with the sound. I think I'm just looking to replace the defective neck pickup.

Any suggestions on how I can find an appropriately "juiced" replacement?

I appreciate any input.

Ted Smith of the family who built Melobars is a member here. Maybe you can shoot him an email and ask his advice.

Looked at a pic and saw it uses standard Tele pickups. I would recommend a Seymour Duncan Antiquity for the neck pickup. they sound great.

Hi Peggy,

Any idea what pickup was in it - most were built with Bill Lawrence pickups (black open bobbin)

I have built them with Rios which will be very bright and aggressive - I like the idea of the Duncans myself - I have one I'm building right now and may have to put those in.

Ted

Hi Ted. Thank you so much for your reply. They are black and open. I liked the sound of the pickups. But I also like bright and aggressive idea because I am double-stopping the patuutty out of that TeleRatt. I sure do need another one - hint, hint, willing buyer here. Smile Smile

ANOTHER one...good heavens girl Razz

as I put in the private message, shoot me a photo of it - they're like my kids, I remember them once I see them Smile

The one I'm working on is from the Hardway bodies (last Hardway I have) which has a cool end and guess what...this one got stained and sprayed green today!! if that has any bearing Confused

Don't get me wrong - the Rios I installed on one of them tore the paint off the walls but still had a good tone, so I think you're going to be super happy with them.
