This looks to me like a Fender 4 neck non pedal with the pedal conversion. You can see moving parts in the tuning pan. Any idea who it is? What a beautiful sound! Steel solo is at 1:35.

It is quite obviously a Fender. You can even see the Fender logo plate as well as the Fender name stamped in the tuner pans.

Watch the tuning pan on the neck he's playing and you'll see the pullers moving with the chord changes.

You are exactly right, Dave! Jussi is too! That's Curly (Jack) Evins playing a 4-neck Fender Stringmaster, probably around 1958. Most likely, this is one of several Stringmasters that were modified by Shot Jackson.

Man! I would love to see close ups of SHots work on those. I just love the non pedal tone-but play mostly with pedals. Can someone sketch out a rough diagram?

Dave, I can send photos to you. Shot used the same parts he was using in making the DALAND guitars with don DAvis and hank garLAND. Ten DALANDS were made before Fon Davis and Hank Garland handed over the business to Shot Jackson sobthey could concentrate on sessions. The pedals were the same that Fon Davis used in the dragsters he was building.
Seymour had a triple fender that had keyhead plungers and the same parts as a DALAND. The plungers are just Bigsby copies. The same put on Bud Isaac's Bigsby, which is what the DALAND was essentially copying. I will send you bigdby plunger photos too as a couple of mine have keyhead plungers.

Looks like he's pulling strings 4&5, I'd like to know the tuning, don't think chromatics were being used yet. Billy Bowman had plain strings on one of the necks on his National, but were in the bass strings position. Didn't have a chance to talk to him about it tho.
