I received this guitar new from Ron Lashley Sr. in November, 1984. Played it a short time before selling it to my friend Bob Delaloye. Many years later, Bob traded it back to me. Jim Parker, and later Larry Gerdeman also owned it for a few years before my SKH returned home again. The condition mechanically was poor, due to many years of hard playing in smoke venues and countless outside jobs, but it still sounded great. I really felt an emotional connection to this particular guitar, so decided to hire Billy Knowles, of Steel Guitar East, to do a complete rebuild, and include a few up grades. His work went far beyond my expectations.
The guitar was taken apart, right down to the basic wood cabinet. Even the cross shafts and necks removed. All metal parts cleaned, polished, chrome plated, or replaced as needed. Necks jeweled, new black cabinet flocking, and upgraded to the newer 14-hole bellcranks on both necks. The end result is like owning a pristine vintage 57 Chevy with a new motor and power train. Billy's phone number is 910) 296-7428. Website www.steelguitareast.com Thank you Billy for a job well done.

Wow Duane!! Great to hear you could get this steel back and even better that we have folks like Billy who have the expertise and skills in bringing these fine steels back to better than new condition. Duane, if you need a NEW BIG Tuning Wrench for your new steel, let me know and it'll be on the way. Happy New Year...Carl

Congratulations, Duane! Billy did a fabulous job on your guitar....no question about it!

I'm looking forward to hopefully going out to dinner with you and Billy for more of that great BBQ at the Hard Eight down in Dallas, while we're attending the Jamboree.

Larry & Ron, I'll have it in the shop all this week tweeking the adjustments and getting use to the Emmons "feel" again. However, Tuesday afternoon & evening is guitar lessons, so I don't fire up the steel during that time, otherwise, come on down. Donna said for you guys to make it Wednesday and catch the jam at the Tattoo Lady. Lynn, I'll look forward to that BBQ in Dallas. Billys buying!!! Very Happy

Thanks for all the comments, the mica color on this guitar is really pretty, think Rex Wiseman of the Oaks had one about that same color. Duane is a great person to do work for.

Thanks again for your comments. Last night was my first gig with the Emmons SKH. Still getting use to the feel of the guitar, but the Emmons signature tone was clearly there and it played very well. Billy did a wonderful job. Smile
