| Johnny Wilkinson, former rhythm guitarist with Elvis, and my folksinging bud in the early sixties passed away today. I don't know any of the details. Hopefully, somebody will post something on the Forum about it. Johnny was a super great guy and we always had a bet to see who would work with the Kingston Trio first, and own a Vega Pete Seeger longneck banjo. He was the first to get to work with the Kingstons. I did a show with them, but I was the MC. I think I got the Vega banjo first, not sure. He settled back in Springfield, Missouri not far from me, and I was going up to see him when my wife gave me the message that he had passed away. RIP my pickin' friend. We picked and sang many a song together, and had some great times. I'll miss you. |
