Hello Friends,

I have a few really cool gigs coming up in the next week I want to tell you about:

Tonight, Thursday, March 9th, I am playing with Lori Michaels at the launch of the lostwriters.net magazine. Lori plays guitar, keyboards and writes great personal music in a modern alt-country style. I will be playing my old Emmons, Beard reso and a very hairy old Tele for her. Free beer!!

No. 1 Brewer’s Row
79 North 11th Street
Williamsburgh, Brooklyn
We’re on around 8:00 PM

Saturday March 11, I am playing with a very talented singer/songwriter named Kristin Mueller. Kristin writes very pretty, introspective music on Gibson hollowbody guitar and banjo, I will be backing her up on steel and guitar. She just finished her first solo album.

Freddy’s Back Room
Corner of Dean and Sixth Avenue in Brooklyn
8:30 PM

Tuesday March 14th I will be playing steel, reso and my new Superslide with Downriver, an instrumental band that is the Western version of Indian classical music in a way, the drummer and I improvise over droning changes played on open-tuned double neck guitar and fretless bass. Very cool. We just finished our first album with Bill Laswell at the helm, and are currently shopping it to labels.

The Lakeside Lounge
Avenue B between 10th and 11th streets in Manhattan
10 PM

And last but certainly not least, on Friday May 17th, I will play steel with “New York’s best dark orchestrette”, Pinataland, a great band featuring tuba, drums, steel and acoustic guitar. Strong songwriting and a truly unique sound.

The Bowery Poetry Club
On the Bowery right across from CBGB’s, just north of Houston
10 PM, I believe

I would love to see some of my Forum friends at some of these really great gigs, all very high-quality music and musicians!

I'm playing in the band after Gerald at Freddy's sat night. "Jan Bell and the cheap dates"

Come by and see what its like to be a human in a real bar before the devolpers bulldoze it and put in a stadium, megamall with a TGI Friday's or some other crap.

Freddy's is worth checking out for the weird stuff they play on the tv besides being a great local hangout with live music.

And my little tour of NYC concludes tonight at The Bowery Poetry Club with Pinataland, here's your chance to hear tuba and steel in one band. Not to be missed. The band the Village Voice called "New York's best weird dark orchestrette"! Had to create a new category for them, in fact. We go on at 11PM, the BPC is right across from CBGB's on the Bowery, just watch out for the wasted co-eds in green leprechaun hats.

I was sitting next to a tuba player on my gig too over at Zebulon! Tell your drummer Bill that Ron Caswell says hey and then watch actual smoke come out of Bill's ears !
