Hi Tony....Here are a couple of photos of a bass baffle. These are shots of the interior of my 2001 Jerry Douglas Model by Dobro (Gibson). A bass baffle is basically an object similar to a portion of a soundwell, but not a complete circle. They are found in many open bodied reso guitars. Open bodied meaning, no soundwell but a system of sound posts and braces or other designs. A bass baffle is positioned at the top section where the soundwell would be and the theory behind it is to force the low frequency tones to be reflected and take longer to escape the body, thereby enhancing those freqs.

Thanks Rockne,I didn't know that type was the bass reflex. I used to have a old Tut Taylor that had that made out of 3 pieces of wood. I have a dobro built by a local gentleman that has sound post only and I was wanting to try and warm up the tone. I've got a Wechter Sheerhorn model that has a clear plastic baffle behind the sound holes. It has a nice tone and I enjoy playing it. Here's a pic of the Tut's baffle. Thanks again Rockne, I appreciate it.
