Happy Holidays!!
Why don't more people use D6 tuning with the F# on top. Is it because of string gauges? I have one steel set up with E6 tuning with the E on top, and I like the gauges but I am missing that 3rd on top.
Thanks |

I'm assuming your tuning is laid out like this on a six string guitar:
1. F#
2. D
3. B
4. A
5. F#
6. D
I would guess (assuming I've guessed your version of D6 tuning) that most people would stick with C6th tuning, one whole step lower than this. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

b0b has a pedal steel copedent based on this. It sounds really great. The point of using D6 was to split the middle between Jerry Byrd's C6 and Don Helms' E6. It works. He gets that bright Don Helms tone when he wants to and get still mellow out when it'sappropriate. I haven't done it on my resonator. But I do recommend trying it on any electric steel. _________________ Amor vincit omnia |
