I love this photograph for a lot of reasons.
The owner cites the caption: "Cajun Hawaiian guitar player, National Rice Festival, Crowley, Louisiana 1938."

Cool photo, David, odd how steel became integrated with the bayou boy's music when they seem so disparate. You should talk to Bobby Ingano about his cajun experiences, he loves those guys and they loved jamming with him. |

That is Julius "Papa Cairo" Lamperez, an early Cajun steel player. I love this photo-- itʻs from the Library of Congress and a hi-res copy is free and downloadable to anyone who wants it--link below

Does anyone recognize the guitar he's playing? |
