The std C pedal on E9 pulls 4th E up to F#. Some like PF also pull 8th E to F#.
On U-12 some do and don't pull the 8th, and some may pull the 11th.
What are reasons for not pulling all 3 Es to F#? Anything gained by just pulling 4th string?
I can see some uses for pulling all 3 Es.

It would make the pull too stiff for me.
I don't pull to the low F or C# ether. _________________ MSA 12 String E9th/B6th Universal.

I thought there might be musical reasons, that I don't see because of my lack of experience. |

There have occasionally been times when I would have liked the 3 pedal to pull all 1 or the other lower E strings, but very rarely. But like Ken said, it would make the pedal stiffer, and in my opinion, the trade off wouldn't be worth it. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

I like to pull the 3 E strings to F# simultaneously, but not on the C pedal. Suits me better to have that 3-string raise on the 'E to F' lever, and switch that lever for a smooth 'E to F#' raise as/when needed. I don't find the triple-pull particularly hard.
It is actually the "simultaneous change" I miss the most when not playing my favorite PSG. Still haven't put it on all my own S10 and S12 PSGs though, as the switch-mechanics and string balancing is a bit complicated. |
