I have heard lots of comments (most of them favorable) about the 80XL but no mention that I've seen about the built in tuner. It seems to me to be pretty adequate for "touch up" tuning if you have it close before hand. Am I right or what ? My amp is new to me so I'm not hep to it all. "Thanx" Bill.

Bill I certainly wouldn't tune a steel to it. It's a feature I just don't use. Strobo-flip for everything.

Best bang for the buck for me is the ClearTune app for iPhone and Android.

For $4.99 it does it all, and then some. Check it out. Since I got it I haven't touched any of my other tuners. Plus, as long as you've got your phone, you always have it with you. One less thing to forget to pack.

Thanks guys - John, Unfortunately I am an old "out of the loop" man and my cell phone rings, I say hello and goodbye and that's the sum of it's features - Laughing I still use a Korg that I've had since sometime in the 70's, complete with black tape to hold the batteries in. Embarassed Sounds like a great idea however, for you "more modern guys" .

+1 for the ClearTune app for iPhone. I have it on my phone and my iPad. It's very accurate and the large iPad screen means I can actually see the display. It easily accepts custom settings. I use it with an adapter from Peterson so I can plug a 1/4" directly in. Bill, I used to feel the same way about cell phones...I'm amazed how helpful smartphones are. I can even text while I drive, now. Laughing (kidding)

OK Bill, I understand that. I just turned 70 and I guarantee you my Smartphone is one heck of a lot smarter than I am. Heck, for that matter, so is my steel!
