Kudos for your contributions both past and present although I must admit that including My Favorite things/Bluesette as a (Christmas) medley has me kind of baffled..

Thanks for the kind words, Joe. Keep at it -- I've been at it for a while. It will come.

Barry,
Re: My Favorite Things -- it's all Jack Jones' and Andy Williams' fault Smile
Re: Bluesette -- let's just call it 'artistic license'. Smile
From Wikipedia

As a Christmas song

The wintertime imagery of the lyrics has made "My Favorite Things" a popular selection during the Holiday season. It has also appeared on Christmas albums and compilations, including:

1964: Jack Jones on his album The Jack Jones Christmas Album
1965: Eddie Fisher on his album Mary Christmas
1965: The Supremes recorded a popular version of the song, on their album Merry Christmas
1965: Andy Williams on his album Merry Christmas
1966: Kenny Burrell on his album Have Yourself a Soulful Little Christmas
1967: Barbra Streisand on her album A Christmas Album
1968: Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass on their album Christmas Album. This version became a #45 Billboard 100 hit single the following year.
1968: Tony Bennett on his album Snowfall: The Tony Bennett Christmas Album
1969: Johnny Mathis on his album Give Me Your Love for Christmas
1981: Kenny Rogers on his album Christmas
1984: The Carpenters on their album An Old-Fashioned Christmas
1993: Lorrie Morgan on her album Merry Christmas from London. This version received Christmas airplay in 1994 and again in 1999, bringing it to #64 and #69, respectively, on the Hot Country Songs charts in those years.[2]
1995: Luther Vandross on his album This Is Christmas
2002: Barry Manilow on his album A Christmas Gift of Love
2002: Anita Baker on her album Christmas Fantasy
2002: Barry Manilow on his album A Christmas Gift of Love
2005: Kenny G on his album The Greatest Holiday Classics
2011: Chicago included a Latin/Brazilian jazz infused version on their album Chicago XXXIII: O Christmas Three
A parody using AC/DC as an influence, in fact going so far as to take a riff right out of "Highway to Hell", known as "Jingle Hells Bells" appeared on the album I Am Santa Claus by Bob Rivers

I'll concede "wintertime imagery," just not Christmas. (There is no mention of it in the lyrics.) OK, I'm nitpicking now … Smile

What about 'Sleigh Ride', 'No Place Like Home for the Holidays', and 'Winter Wonderland'?

I gravitated away from hymns from the get-go and kinda pursued that direction.

Maybe I shoulda put Christmas Songs in quotes. Smile

Hey Bud -- great to hear from you and have wonderful (COLD) holidays up there in Petoskey. Find someone to hug to keep you warm. Smile

Mike D -- my humble apologies for not letting you know how much I appreciate 'Rock of Ages' -- GREAT ARRANGEMENTS OF GREAT TUNES. Every time I listen I hear another musical twist I didn't notice before. Your musicality and palette of sounds, mixing acoustic and electric steel and guitar sounds creates a wonderful result.

ANYONE WHO HAS NOT CHECKED OUT MIKE'S ALBUM 'Rock of Ages' SHOULD DO SO. Mike's take on some of the most popular classic rock tunes is a joy to behold.

Thanks for the kind words re: my feeble effort. I'M NOT WORTHY. Smile

Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year my friend. Send me an EMail message some time to larry@larrybell.org. I seem to have lost your EMail address.
