Sonny.....don't remember the name of the band but do remember that the name of the steel player was Ronnie Symank...who was also TSGA Steel Player of The Year......nothing but shuffles and waltzes all night long.

But I remember reading on the Forum not too long ago that Ronnie under went lung surgery......so don't know if the band will be there this year.

Maybe someone with an update will post.....

The fiddle player was Gene Brown. He plays with Doug Martin and the Rustlers. A great fiddler and a super guy!! He was Joe Paul Nichols fiddler until Joe Paul had to quit due to illness.

That's the Heart of Texas Road Gang. Dennis Symank on bass and Ronnie on steel. These guys are the real deal. Hope to see them again this year.

Maybe Fred Justice will see this thread. I think he would know. I stayed & watched Ronnie's whole show there in the lobby last year - just a lot of that great Texas honky tonk music..I sure hope he will be there again this year. The drummer is a lot of fun to watch also.

I think I read months earlier that Ronnie had fallen from a ladder and had a serious head injury. I hope that I am wrong about that or that he has recovered from that. They are a typical Texas dance band, but a very good one.

Before a rumor gets started with misinformation it wasn't Ronnie that fell off the ladder but his brother Dennis. I have been told that Dennis has recovered nicely and is back to playing with the band on the bass. These are some great players and really nice people. Hope Ronnie and Dennis and the band will be able to attend Dallas this year.

I'm sorry. Another one of those senior moments. I got their names crossed up when I made the post. At any rate, I'm glad to hear he recovered. I like those guys and their music.

Thanks Jerry,,,,is there any way of knowing if they will be playing in the lobby on Friday night, like last year??? That was really a highlight of last years jamboree,,,in fact I think that is going to be the determining factor as to whether my wife comes with me or not,,,,LOL. Anyway,,,it was a very enjoyable part of the show.
