Belongs to Alan Akaka A new pickup is on the way for it, since the original is messed up.

Hope this link works !

NOT trying to cause a rukus...........

But.... does any welding or soldering of the neck have any kind of negative impact on the guitar's tonal/sound or whatever?

I think you will find there are literally millions of pages of information written about MIG and TIG welding of aluminum.. the choosing of the right alloy, joint shape, joint preparation, resulting grain structure, if the resulting part is used in high heat areas, if it will be anodized, etc. The list is endless.. but I have never seen one that addresses the sonic properties of the resultant welded body.. The welded repair is certainly better than a crack that was there before, and much like the argument on the Gibson forum regarding 1 piece or two piece laminated fretboards.. my guess would at the human levels of hearing, you would never be able to tell the difference...

YMMV, and my hearing went away about 20 years ago anyway Smile ..

PS. soldering is a different process..

I would like to thank Bill for bringing new life to my Rick Frypan. It sparkles and has with a gorgeous tone. The harmonics sings so sweetly. This Rick was given to me by my uncle Johnny Akaka back in the 70s because I was the only one in the Akaka family that played the steel. One of the horseshoe magnets was bent and the instrument needed major TLC. John King of Aptos, CA carefully bent the magnet enough so that it didnʻt touch the strings and he cleaned up the steel. I used it a couple of times, but the tone just wasnʻt there so I pretty much stored it in the closet. Almost 25 years passed and Bill offered to restore my Rick. Well, it took about 6 years before I finally got it to him. Derrick Mau did me a huge favor by personally delivering to Bill in Saginaw. The rest is history and I am truly a happy camper. Now my Rick receives more attention and playing time than ever. Mahalo nui loa Bill Crellar Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile
