I was honored to play steel guitar in a band with Bill Adams, Bartow Henry, Billy Puckett and a few others that Puckett affectionately called the “Cardiac Cowboys” back in the 1990's. Puckett was younger than them and they had all had heart attacks. Laughing Bill moved back to Texas some time in the 1990’s I guess and was pretty active out there I gather. After Bill returned from Texas we played in Puckett's SwingSouth band for the past couple of years. I was on bass in this band and Tommy Dodd played steel. This picture was taken at The Yellow Daisy Festival in Stone Mountain, Georgia in September 2011. We only played a few times a year. Not much demand for a big group playing western swing in Georgia in this day and time. For me, his rendering of those classic western swing vocals was on par with the likes of Tommy Duncan and Leon Rauch. May he rest in peace. My prayers and condolences go out to Nadine and their daughter.

That Bill Adams on the right.

I recall that day in Stone Mountain, Bill (C). The music was perfect, and Bill Adams sounded great! I know he will be missed.

Bill was a great musician and a great person.

In the 70's, I played bass in a band with Bill Adams singing and Mac Atcheson on steel.

They can make music together now. Someday, I hope to join them again.
