I have several blown speakers, most not worth re-coning. Among them are 2 peavey scorpion baskets, 12 inch, a 15 in BW basket, these are all aluminum castings. Also I have 2 15 inch and 4 12 inch stamped steel speakers, none of which work well. Non of which match. I keep thinking someone may want them...any ideas?

The baskets can be replaced. (This is what "reconing" means for a Peavey Speaker.) |

I already replaced em, that's why I have the duds. I guess I'll take them to the recycler...breaks my heart. |

Your local speaker reconer may have a use for them, nearly everything can be re-coned. |

A replacement cone would cost almost as much as a complete basket, so it's probably not practical to re-use them. |

Sorry, the basket and cone are one piece. I think there might be some folks who'd mount new paper cone on the voice coil, like custom speaker rebuilders, but I can't see it making a lick of sense, since you'd need another magnet, and it'd cost more than a replacement Peavey basket (of course, if it's something that Peavey has stopped supporting, that'd be your only alternative, but I'd just switch to an Eminence Neo). _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

It's the holiday season. Before you get rid of them, consider that they might make nice party hats. |

Here in Sedona there are a whole lot of "artists" who might like to use them in their found objects objects. I'll leave them sitting outside a nest of artists and watch from a distance as one by one they are found. |
